International week continues as universities prepare to implement student-oriented projects

In order to promote international recognition and strengthen closer cooperation, representatives of several foreign universities will visit the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technologies - LBTU from November 28 to December 2 to discuss current events in higher education, which also foresees new and the implementation of double diploma study programs, as well as the implementation of beneficial and student-oriented projects that would result in attraction of students.

LBTU welcomes guests from six universities and institutes - Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute, Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, Bukhara Engineering Technological Institute, Technical University of Moldova, Georgian American University and Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University.

During the visit, representatives of foreign universities will meet with the management of LBTU, familiarize themselves with the university's activities, study environment and scientific laboratories, as well as visit several faculties - the Faculty of Information Technology, the Faculty of Food Technology, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Forestry and the Faculty of Environmental and Construction Sciences, where they will get to know each other more closely. with the direction of landscape architecture and planning studies. Guests also have the opportunity to get to know the Veterinary Clinic and LBTU teaching and research farm "Vecauce".

The management of LBTU informed those present with current events in higher education, emphasizing the amendments to the Law on Higher Education, which determined that LBTU is a scientific university. He also talked about the structure of the university, faculties, participation in international rankings, work on the new university strategy 2023-2027. for the year, as well as about the introduction of the new brand and the level of employment of graduates. On the other hand, the scientific journals of the university, the annual international conferences and the implemented projects in which digital solutions were implemented, such as the creation of a robotic weed control device, a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission calculator, and other studies, were especially highlighted for achievements in science.

Along with the visits, there are also discussions aimed at defining the activities to be carried out for further cooperation, including questions about attracting students, Erasmus+ mobility opportunities for students and teaching staff, as well as joint implementation of new study programs in the participating educational institutions and realization of double diploma study programs in cooperation with Georgia's American and Akaki Tsereteli State Universities.

In order to transfer the accumulated experience of LBTU, it is planned to implement the GIZ (German International Cooperation Society) project "Professional education for economic growth sectors in Central Asia", which is awaiting approval and in the implementation of which LBTU, Tashkent and Bukhara institutes will be involved. During the meeting, the partners discuss the activities to be implemented in the project. The project is intended to improve the capabilities of Central Asian vocational education systems, providing qualified specialists and managers for the growth of the economic sector in the region.

It should be noted that LBTU already has experience in implementing several study programs abroad, such as the "Food Quality and Innovations" study program at the Tashkent State University of Economics, the "Food Science" study program at the Samarkand branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University, the Samarkand State Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and at the University of Biotechnology the study programs "Food Quality and Innovations", "Sustainable Agriculture" and "Food Science", the Tashkent Institute of Chemistry and Technology and the Bukhara Institute of Engineering Technology study programs "Food Quality and Innovations" and "Food Science", while the Tashkent State University of Economics The Samarkand branch offers "Information Technologies for Sustainable Development" to students.
